Our Mission: The Georgetown Planning Department is committed to actively preserving the community’s heritage, and shaping its future by implementing the City’s adopted vision and promoting a high quality built environment.
The Planning Department helps guide the development process with the goal of ensuring quality land development for the future of Georgetown in accordance with the City’s Comprehensive Plan.
The Planning Department assists policy makers, property owners, developers, and citizens in regard to growth and new development, protecting and improving existing development, and preserving the City’s historic heritage and character. We also provide information to the public regarding census and demographic information, population projections, and development trends and impacts.
The Planning Department provides support to City Council, six citizen boards and various special task forces and committees. Information on each of these boards and future meetings and agendas can be found on this site. https://georgetown.org/council-boards-agendas/
Development Applications are accepted Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
2018/19 UDC Amendments Review Cycle
A new amendment is currently under review to address the permitting and review process for Mobile and Outdoor Food Vendors as temporary and permanent uses subject to additional standards to ensure the safe and orderly development of the City (Amendment No. 1). The Mobile and Outdoor Food Vendor amendment will be considered on the following dates:
- August 8, 2018, UDC Advisory Committee
- September 4, 2018, Planning and Zoning Commission
- September 25 and October 9, 2018, City Council
